Hi there,

I have a question. A simple one I hope :) Can I mount a Sony VCT-14 professional plate on a Vinten Vision 3 or Sachtler DV6 head?

I want to be able to click a Protech ST-7 shoulder support (which mounts to a VCT-14) onto the tripod head. Obviously this won't work with an out-of-the-box Sachtler or the Vinten because those plates are meant to screw into the camera and don't support the Protech ST-7 mount...

So what do I need to get this to work?

Here's a link to the Protecht ST-7

Ok, i'll answer my own question. The Sony VCT-14 can be mounted on the existing plate that comes with the tripod. The VCT-14 has a row of holes on the backside that can be used to fit it on a tripod plate... why do they only show the topside of those things hehe :)

Yes. Use the two 3/8" screws located in the storage compartment on the top of the head (if its a 3AS) or the two 3/8" screws supplied seperately.

The screw heads on both my Vintens and my Sachtler have very wide slots. Most normal screwdrivers will damage them. I usually use a coin such as a US quarter or nickel, or a steel washer, tightening securely by hand only. When it's time to loosen them, the same item held with a small pair of ViseGrip pliers makes it easy to back them out.
