I am running through some tests on 1.5.31 because I have a SDX-900 shoot Tuesday and it would be great not to have to digitize the tapes.
Using SanDisk Extreme 32Gb 60 Mbps 400x cards (worked fine in last firmware version) I perform a format as usual and then see these messages:

CF1 no name udma5
CF2 no name udma5
New clip card (udma5)

Each in succession on the top line then nano display looks normal. In SD recording goes fine, and the files play in FCP. Are these messages cause for concern? I will try HD later recording and see if that is OK.

No, there is no cause for concern.

These are new message with our new firmware.

CF1 noname UDMA5

This means that the card is slot 1 does not have a "Volume Name".

One can, in your computer, select the card or CompactFlash card reader, then "Rename".

Then, you can put a 11 character filename.

If you setup a 7 digit name, followed by four digits, such as 0001, then every time we reformat the card in the nanoFlash we will increment the number by 1.

After you rename a card, then this could be

CF1 Company0000 UDMA5 "Company" and "Company0000" could be anything you want.



The UDMA5 indicates that we read the internal data from your card and found that it supports UDMA Level 5. This could be other numbers, such as UDMA 4 or UDMA 6.

In the future, we will use this information to control how we write to the card. Some are limited to UDMA 4 techniques and other can use UDMA 5 or UDMA 6.

Our goal is to increase our write speeds to the cards.

For example, certain cards now max out at 220 Mbps, we want to increase this to 280 Mbps.


The "New Clip Card (UDMA5)" message indicates that the card that we will be using to write new clips to is capable of UDMA 5.
