View Full Version : Glidecam training in UK Peter D. Parker February 18th, 2010, 10:38 AM I'm trying to set up some training in UK for Glidecam users. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Peter Colin McDonald February 18th, 2010, 05:12 PM I might be, if the Glidecam was provided, and we could just bring our own cameras. You can email me with possible course locations, dates and fees when you are ready. Might I suggest you post a link from this 'ere thread to http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/these-people-your-neighborhood/26774-greetings-great-britain-united-kingdom-15.html as a fair number of UK based dvinfo-ers keep an eye on it. I might be persuaded to buy a Glidecam after a successful training session. I had booked a Merlin session with Calumet but they cancelled it, so no deal. I would be prepared to travel to the North of England, but not the Midlands or London as it would bump up the cost significantly. Peter D. Parker February 20th, 2010, 11:18 AM I had word with CVP Mitcorp at BVE last week, the UK distributors of Glidecam, and they don't have any plans to do any training, which is a bit odd as they supply it. I also had a word with Glidecam at the show and they don't have any plans either to set up training in UK, although I was told if I contact the CEO who was the show, he would put me in touch with an operator who might do training. Not very good for after sales customer relations is it? I've left an e-mail for a steadicam operator in Manchester about doing some training and awaiting a reply. The other alternative is to go on one of the Tiffen courses for Steadicam and use their equipment. The setting up and use is very similar to Glidecam. I have the X-10 and your welcome if you come down to Preston, Lancs., to have a play with it. I can show you how to set it up if you bring your camera but I really want someone to show me correct use, before I get any bad habits. Peter Simon Wyndham February 23rd, 2010, 03:01 PM I'd recommend going on the Tiffen courses. The operational methods and basic set up are the same for all stabilisation systems. The Tiffen models have a few more bells and whistles to make set up easier though. It is a shame that there aren't any Glidecam specific courses though. Gabor Heeres March 24th, 2010, 12:21 PM Just to confirm, I'm not involved with these workshops in any way, just wanted to inform you guys about it. 2 SHOT (http://www.glidecam.nl/workshops.php) €350,- for a two-day training. |
