I’m editing a movie and want to make subtitles in a few languages for this
movie. It’s possible to do this in Sony Vegas and make *.sub-files to use
in DVD Architect. This don’t seem very easy, so my question is if there
is an easier way to do this? Is there a lowcost program/software which
is easier to use and gives good results?

I do subtitling frequently (like for every project I do at work) and there are a number of very good tools.

The best free tool is called Subtitle Workshop. If you need a more commercial tool then Belle Nuit is good.

DVDA understand subtitles made for Adobe Encore. So use that preset when making the subtitles.

Yea, I have it on all my workstations... Because of my work, we are required by Federal rule to caption every video we make.. so I do this a *LOT* and I've tried nearly every free tool out there.

This is really the best of the bunch. The one thing it will NOT do, is to make subtitles that are suitable to go into Avid. That's where the Belle Nuit comes in. But it's not free.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've already downloaded and installed Subtitle Workshop. Now I have to try/use this software. And again, thanks....
