I'm editing a short video in Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 8.0

I need to make some parts of the music track louder than other...how do I do that?

IF Platinum has it, the shortcut key (click on any event on the audio track) is the V key.

Thread title changed from "silly question" to "need to make some parts of the music track louder" -- please avoid ambiguous thread titles on DV Info Net. Thanks in advance,

Right click in several spots on the track header, look for Insert Envelope.
IF Platinum has it, the shortcut key (click on any event on the audio track) is the V key.
If the track header is highlighted, this method works fine and quick!

I don't have Platinum either... but, if memory serves, it has volume envelopes. If neither of the above methods work, look for it in the Insert menu.
