can the nano flash be used on a camera like a sony fx 1000 ewith an hdmi out and record full raster?

what about an xlh1?? (no hdmi out)

if I could use this on both cameras It may be a worthy investment.

Hi Dale,
Should record fine from HDMI output of your sony camera, as well as from HD-SDI output of XL-H1 (As I recall, the H1 has the option of outputting SD-SDI as well, which is also an allowable input option for the NanoFlash.) In both cases I'm pretty sure that the signal is pre-HDV-compression, so the Nano should record at quite a bit higher quality than the tape.
It's been a while since I've shot with the XL-H1, but you might want to as someone more knowledgeable to comment on whether there are any issues recording from the Canon in Frame Mode. I vaguely remember some editing issues when it first came out, so if these are based on non-standard signals that might be an issue in frame mode. As I recall everything was pretty standard with it in 60i, so there should be no problems there.

The Canon XLH1 (original) and the XLH1s have HD-SDI port and are great with the NanoFlash.
But XLH1a has no HD-SDI port.

The nanoFlash works great with the original XL H1, the newer XL H1s, and HDMI equipped cameras.

As far as I know, the HDMI output, on almost all cameras, is before compression, just like the HD-SDI outputs.

For the original XL H1, I recommend that you purchase one of our Remote Controls with Tally Light, with the Timecode Input option. Or, if you do not want the remote control, just a timecode input cable.

This allows the nanoFlash to see the camera's timecode, if needed.

If you have no need for the timecode from the camera, then these cables are optional.

If desired, one can add a Component to HD-SDI converter.

However, the ideal situation is to use the nanoFlash with an all digital solution, such as with a camera with HD-SDI or HDMI.
