I am looking for a depth of field effect. To better explain I would like to have control focus on the clip, to be able to soften focus on the exterior and draw attention to a particular area that remains in focus. A faux focus. Any ideas of where such a effect plug in is available for Final Cut Pro?
Thanks
Kent

Just set up two layers with a mask. back one blurred and top one with a feathered shape mask. much easier and cheaper. same principal can be used to do a spotlight or looking through binoculars.

You'll have to be extra careful with that kind of methodology; if you don't have any tracking plug-ins that can follow your masked-out subject then this would only work for static shots, not moving targets.

disagree...I've done this with simple keyframing in FCP.
I do agree that a better way is to throw it into Motion or AE and use the tracking features. It works better but there's a lot more steps.

I have an east to use plugin to aid tis kind of thing (its the Region Blur plugin found here: http://web.me.com/andymees) .. my favorite though is Peter Wiggins' free Rack Focus plugin: idustrial revolution freebie pack 1 (http://www.idustrialrevolution.com/free/fp1/)
