Being a rookie... why does it seem to be black lines when they fireworks explode? Is it the camera?

The video is interlaced. These lines will very noticible when viewing the videos on your PC. These videos have not been processed for PC viewing, they are in their RAW .m2t format (just renamed to .mpg for convienence).

If you download the VLC media player from www.videolan.org, you can activate on-the-fly deinterlacing to see the video properly on your computer.

I tried the VLC player , using the various de-interlacing methods that the Preferences panel offer.Does not seem to improve the situation ....

In fact Windows Media Player does an excellent work at deinterlacing on the fly, on my machine, a low speed Sony VAIO. No black bars visible anywhere...

The situation seems clear enough ( not bad for a night shot...;-) )

The FX1 shows heads in the foreground and a perfectly lit arch . ( Is this StLouis ??) Where the HC1 shows barely nothing.

But the Hi-light fireworks themselves are crippled by smear on the FX1 while they look excellent on the HC1.

Trade-off, trade-off CCD versus CMOS as expected...

According to the person who shot the video, the FX1's aperature was locked down. Had it been set to automatic, it probably would have looked better.

I liked the "angel" footage, interesting to note that it does not have a ND filter (becasue Sony claims it doesn't need one being CMOS having higher dynaimc range than CCD's) there doesn' seem to be any blowouts, well maybe it was'nt sunny enough.

I just checked media-player. Resizing to 50 % makes the shots great! Guess my computer couldn't handle the size or something...
