Hello,

What do you think is a fair amount to charge someone per hour for tutoring them in Avid Xpress? Also, if one had to speculate, how many lessons, broken up in one or two hour chunks, would it take for someone to become proficient with Avid Xpress?

Thank you for your input.

I learned by doing.

My thought is why dont you have them cut YOUR projects (as long as it takes for them to edit them)? If you budgeted for a 4 hour edit and it takes them 7 hours, so be it, as long as it hits your clients deadlines.

I have my interns start editing by doing simple tags, then simple corporate, then spots, then complex corporate. By the time their semester is done, they are very proficient, and leave with a demo reel of actual projects instead of crap they did in college. Im not charging them anything, and their not paying anything- a simple exchange of services. With noobs we always take time to ensure they are on the correct track. To me, it seems like a pretty fair trade.

Not sure I answered your question directly, just offering another thought.
