HI guys,

I've spent some time trying to unpack the merits of my V1's various shooting modes. I really don't want to open another superfluous Progressive vs Interlaced debate in general terms, but rather I would appreciate some basic advice about the limitations of each shooting mode.

At present, I'm planning to shoot my short in Progressive scan (25p). What should I look out for? What limitations should I be aware of?

Many thanks!

John

John, Shoot some test footage in progressive, and try all the different shutter speeds. I always set my shutter to 50, but I move my camera really slow. I only shoot interlaced if I think I'm going to slow the shot down. What setting do you have your sharpness set to? 3 works very well for me, but I have read that if you shoot a wide shot, to knock the sharpness up. Also keep your gain down as much as possible, to avoid grain. Just read through all the threads here, and you will learn plenty. What is your short film about? Are you filming with the DR60?
