I can't see the name Newfoundland without thinking of a band I saw here about ten years ago--Great Big Sea, or something like that. The lead told us that most people say it wrong, that it's New FOUND land. So I remembered...and if I say it like that people correct me. :)

Newfoundlanders are renowned across Canada for being hard working and magnanimous. Often financial refugees, many Newfoundlanders leave the East Coast which has high unemployment for points West where they work their BUTTS off and introduce us to a wonderful adult beverage called Screech.
