Sony really needs to make a version compatible with Mac's!

Does anyone know of future plans for a Mac version of Vegas?

It is extremely unlikely. Since it makes heavy use of the .NET framework, it would have to be totally rewritten to run on the Mac OS.

If you want to run Vegas on a MAC then run it via Bootcamp. Works like a charm.
The only thing you will need is to make sure that you also install MACDRIVE on the PC side of things. This way you can read and write to MAC formatted NTFS drives.

I periodically work with a local post house who is exclusively FCP and I use this software to swap files all the time.
At only $50, it's well worth it.

I run Vegas on my MacBook under VMWare Fusion. Works well enough for the occasional simple stuff I do on the road. Biggest problem is acquisition since VMWare doesn't make the Firewire port available to a guest operating system, so I have to capture under MacOS and then access the captured file from Vegas. On the other hand, both Mac & Windows apps can appear in separate windows on on the same desktop under Fusion so it isn't too much of a hassle.

Not sure it would be a great production tool but for what I do it's fine.

The reason I prefer running native OS under Bootcamp, is that you have full access to the computers hardware and don't lose processing power.

VMware is good except that I found that I lost some computer functionality and power.
But VMware is definitely a more streamlined way to operate under both OS's at the same time.

I'm thinking of putting Cineforem on my MacBook as well and that should make the capture process the same as my current setup on Windows - unless I run into some unexpected problem as is usual with computers:-) I've been in the computer business for over 50 years and they still make me tear out my hair on a regular basis!

And yes, we had computers 50 years ago. First one I worked on was made with relays and most programs had to be wired into plug boards)
