If you are interested in showing your movies on a 16:9 HD tv, would the native 16:9 in PDX-10 give you better images than the 4:3 native of the Sony HDR-HC1?

PRices of these cameras are so similar!!! My gut feeling is that the HDR-HC1 is better but I'm still confused about this 16:9 native issue. What am I losing with the new sony HD in this camp?

thank you

Well, all the press releases I've read regarding HC1 says that Sony is using a true 1920 x 1080 CMOS sensor. That's true 16:9, just like the PDX10. However, the HDV spec says that 1080/60i is to be sampled at 1440 x 1080 with a pixel aspect ratio of 1.2 (or is it 1.3?). Chances are the HC1 captures true 1920 x 1080 and resamples it to 1440 x 1080... hey, just like the PDX10 captures video at 853 x 480 and resamples it to 720 x 480 (DV's spec).

I don't think you'd be losing anything with the HC1 and widescreen tv's.
