I've been a wedding stills photographer for over 20 years and I want to get into hd video to explore a new medium. I don't plan on shooting wedding videos for money but maybe use video sparingly at friends or family weddings. My goal is to become proficient at all aspects of video from shooting to editing and then creating discs.
After much research I just purchased a Canon hf s100, several sdhc cards, an extended battery, a Rode video mic, and a small video light bracket to hold the mic. Next I need to purchase a more powerful pc. Everything I've read points to a desktop but I'm going to have to go the laptop route for now as I will be using it mostly for photo business and often need portability. I've read many reviews of various editing software and I'm thinking of getting photoshop 8 premiere/elements bundle since I can use both.
I have many basic questions to ask but I really don't know which sub forum might be geared toward newbies.
Thanks
