I just shot some video on my 5D, and I'm giving it to someone to edit who has FCP 5. IIRC, prores isn't available with FCP 5. Any suggestions on the best codec that will work that version? Apple Intermediate?

DNxHD will work just fine. And it's free.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware of that codec--I just downloaded it. It for sure works with FCP 5?

I cannot guarantee this. I was merely presenting an option.

I USE XDCAM EX OR XDCAM HD usually and they are nice ones. Not sure if they're in FCP 5, just my two penneth.

I use DVCProHD. Less compression than XDCamHD.

What makes you think that? I'd actually argue the opposite. Or at the very least, it's very close.

I could be wrong, but I read on another thread that importing as XDCAM EX wasn't fully supported until FCP6. DVCProHD, as Mike mentioned, should be available though.
