Wow! A church member just loaned us a retired Grass Valley Model 110 (Standard Def.) from a TV station auction! It's the input/output rack-box and the switcher/t-bar console. He doesn't know how to use it, just got it on a lark.

We're kinda dumb-struck. Never worked with this level of gear before.

Aside from the obvious RCA-to-BNC adapters, what else will we need to work with this? We'd like to use 3 cameras and feed it to a computer for streaming.

We have Panasonic DVX-100s and Canon XL1s...any special needs for cable/signal/voltages/whatnot? to use with this rig?

Ya got the cable that goes between the two? If not, ya got yrself a really nice door stop.

Otherwise, I'm 99% sure that all inputs must be synchronous and in time. That means that at least two of your sources need a genlock input. You can use the third source as the sync base. You'll need a DA to distribute sync to the cameras. And you'll need a way to get the sources in time.

If the cameras do not have genlock in, you'll need a frame synchronizer for each input.

Its not really a tool for prosumer use.

A nice pro mixer but it may be too much for your own use, this is where the self syncing panasonic mixers are better suited to non pro set-ups.

Not to mention it may be component as the one I used today for a 3 camera corporate job is.

See if someone can loan you a Tricaster; that would be sweet!

It came with all the wires for the unit. No word on what kind of TBC or Frame Sync to get? Our recording device is a h.264 PVR with composite/rca inputs.

Which end do I stick TBC/Frame Syncs onto? Incoming or outgoing?
