First saw mention of the BBC custom preset here:Canon XH-A1 CUSTOM PRESET Movie V2.1 on Vimeo

BBC - R&D - Publications - WHP034 - Addendum 22 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/whp/whp034-add25.shtml)

BBC were "partly attempting to get a good “filmlook”,and the settings reflect that. However, because of the lack of internal test signals, and as a result of some of the initial measurements, that approach was quickly abandoned and efforts were directed at getting a decent colorimetric performance from the camera. Assuming that a grading operation will be used in postproduction, the settings attempt to give the colourist a reasonable exposure range, but this is inevitably wellshort of what a film stock could be expected to deliver. I keep this one on my camera, but only use it when shooting event footage that the BBC might want to use (flooding and other weather footage and news events that I can cover).
I find it a bit bland, but as the white paper says, it's meant to be neutral to allow for tweaking in post.

I watched this when it first came out and now watching it again it is even more useful. Does anyone have an active link that has all the presets zipped up?

I always use the BBC preset and then add a little bit of colour correction. Here's an example, plenty more on Vimeo.

Alan Roberts' (BBC) settings documents for many others cameras too, can be found here. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/whp/whp034.shtml)

For those of you who don't know, Alan is a recently retired BBC HD expert, and now a world-renowned consultant on all things to do with HD video.
