Hello All,

Please help me with an answer to my frustration.
Last week I was filming a school play, I noticed later than everytime they cloced and opened the curtain for the first 10 seconds or so the colors were were wacked and two saturated and later everything was good. I was filming in 60i HDV and used the lowlight preset I should also should mention that the AWB was on.

Thanks
Matthew

There you go! The camera was trying to white balance on the closed curtain. For such a production, the tungsten preset would probably be your best bet.

The tungsten preset is one of the presets for WB it's the switch on top of the camera under the LCD screen

Better would be to manually set the white balance, but with the tungsten WB preset you'll at least get consistent color (won't change as the camera is constantly re-evaluating WB with AWB), and be able to correct in post. AWB is the pits. It not only usually misses the mark, but is also a nightmare to fix later - better having color that is noticeably off, yet consistent, than having it closer, but shifting throughout the footage.
