I just received my Zylight 90 from Abel and have to say what a great light. How easy it is to operate, make quick color changes, intensity, color temp, and all on my camera hot shoe.

I purchased the Z90 Eng Kit and barn doors. The kit is great all you need to get started.

If anyone is looking for an on camera light that has it all this is worth the look.

Yes, I must agree. I received mine last week and it indeed is probably the best on-camera light on the market. I'm just still dubbing about buying a softbox for it. Just because I experience the intensity of the Z90 too strong for live standups if fully dimmed down.

Gabor good point I missed the softbox. Wow $190 US for the softbox. I will look into it thanks.

I've been using the Z90 for about a year. It is very natural and flattering to the subject, and fills the entire frame even zoomed out wide, no vignetting.

Do you ever use their Soft Box?

No I thought the softbox was too much money, been doing without.

I like using the Z90 at the 3200K setting, very natural and unlike the bluish norm for LED lights, although it does lose a stop of output.

I shot in my studio last night at 3200K and agree it is very natural light.

I bought it with the barn doors, articulating arm, the Techion Li-On battery (not sure about spelling), and the short stubby ball swivel with the 1/4-20 screw, which is the one I use, and the most practical for me. The articulating arm is so strong and heavy (as is the Z90), I'm afraid of using it in the cold shoe adapter for fear an accident would break the shoe off. The Z90 build and features is definitely pro-kit.

Edit: Yes I reread your first post, the Eng Kit is what I purchased as well.

Agree the arm seems huge for the hot shoe. I use the small shoe screw and keep the light low. I used my camera battery with D-Tap for the light.
