This may really sound dumb, but this is the first Sony hardware I've purchased (the PMW-EX1-R)...

Question: I am wondering how you register for the standard warranty? or is there no registration? I don't see a separate card in the packaging, and only references to keeping the reciept/invoice. Do you not register the product itself anywhere?

Note on the extended warranty: I was able to register the Extended Warranty on the professionalservices website, however.... The website does not yet list the EX1-R, but does have the EX1. I selected that and sent them a note to confirm the EX1R and placed the model number in the serial number field.

thanks in advance....

I have never sent in a reg for a Sony Cam.

And I have had warranty work done on a few cams, even when out of warranty.

I have a really good "brick and mortar" dealer, Access A V in NH that I have been using for many years.

Whenever there has been a problem Kevin has always had it fixed, he even lends me loaner stuff when something is gone for a while (like my EX3 lens). He has even had Sony fix a DSR500 out of warranty.

thought that might be the case. Thank you for the quick response.

I've FedExed my EX1 to the regional service center a couple of times for warranty service.
My recollection is that rather than relying on registration at the time of purchase, Sony required documentaion of SN, purchase, & purchase date to be submitted with the camera. In my case the B&H invoice did the job.
