Mike Beckett September 29th, 2011, 08:38 AM Hi Andy,
My experience of selling video camera gear second hand has been that you never get what you think the gear is worth. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it goes. If it was £5000 new, even if it was just used for a while and put in a box for 5 months, you'll still need to drop at least £1000 off the price.
After 1 year, I managed to get £1000 for a £2200 camera. A £4000 camera kit I had for 2 years got me £2000. A £1600 tripod got me £500 after 2 years, and people say tripods hold their value!
It stinks, and it hurts! But it's just the way things are. People will generally need to see a serious reduction to take a chance in buying second hand from a random bloke on the internet. (I know, I have been that random bloke a few times).
I'm not knocking your reasoning, it just appears to me as if you are asking a bit too much for the camera, which is why it hasn't sold. If you aren't prepared to drop the price, you'll have a long wait for a buyer.
Sorry if it seems like I'm trying to teach a granny how to suck eggs! I genuinely wish you best of luck in selling the camera.
Have you tried contacting any of the dealers to see about selling it? Maybe getting part exchange for some other new kit? H Preston, ProAV and CVP will all buy second hand pro equipment.
Jeff Harper September 29th, 2011, 08:45 AM Andy, Mike is right on target, and forgetting the numbers for a moment, your camera is an in demand model, so if it's not selling or you're not getting offers, bottom line the price is too high, regardless of how perfect it is.
I have a brand new camera I would sell to upgrade to a bigger camera, but I cannot because I would get killed on the loss, and I refuse to do that with my limited budget. Best of luck to you, it's tough to get what you want for gear, as Mike points out.
Andy Solaini September 29th, 2011, 11:59 AM Thanks guys. I think you are both spot on and I probably am asking too much. As all my gear has been a sort of investment/potential future income rather than just purely for please I think the hit on selling it is too much given that I really don't want to have to sell it. I kind of think I might be better off keeping it (it's an awesome camera at the end of the day) and finding another way to fund a DSLR set-up. My ultimate aim is to try and make some money offering a high quality photo and video package to adventure holiday type companies for promotional use. Obviously I need a DSLR as well as my XF300 and XF100. It's tough trying to predict possible future income and then trying to fund the required gear on that basis.
Basically looking hard at it it doesn't make financial sense to sell my best equipment and take a big hit at this point.
Anyway thanks for the helpful comments.

Edward Mendoza October 2nd, 2011, 12:30 AM Cody, there is a different place on the forum for eBay listings; this section is for classified ads.
Bill Wilson October 2nd, 2011, 12:23 PM The light holds two lamps, each is switched on individually. You can have either two 20 watt halogen bulbs
giving either 20 watts or 40 watts or a 10 watt lamp can be substituted for a 20 watt; giving the combination of either 10 watts, 20 watts or a combined total of 30 watts.
The unit comes with a plugin charger & two canon type Nicad batteries. Using only the 10 watt lamp will give at least 40-45 minutes of illumination. It will give 30-33 minutes with the 20 watt lamp & 22 minutes using both 10 & 20 watt lamps. I have never run out of juice at a wedding as I only use supplemental lighting at the reception. The light pattern is rectangular & works perfectly with my FX-1 in hi def.
The light is in like new condition. Selling for $55.00 plus shipping. Paypal not accepted.

Andy Solaini October 3rd, 2011, 08:38 AM Anyone interested at £4600 then?
I keep getting job requests for photography so I really need funds for a new camera. Sadly I can't find a way to fund it without selling one of my video cameras.

Glen Vandermolen October 3rd, 2011, 08:53 AM How many hours on it?
I'm trying to find that info in the camera's menu, but so far no luck. It isn't much.
Mitch Heil October 3rd, 2011, 09:20 AM Does this have OSX on it, or is it ubuntu only?
Joseph Stunzi October 3rd, 2011, 10:26 AM I'm willing to separate the lenses and body, but that's dependent on interest.
Nate Haustein October 3rd, 2011, 10:56 AM Taking reasonable offers before ebay...
Glen Vandermolen October 3rd, 2011, 11:05 AM As far as I can tell, there is no way to check for the hours of usage. But since it's solid state, there's no moving parts, so there shouldn't be any wear and tear to speak of.
Nate Haustein October 3rd, 2011, 11:41 AM Hi guys,
Two Panasonic HMC150 AVCHD Camcorders up for sale. Both with low hours: 145 and 262 respectively. I got these cams just over a year ago and used them primarily for dance shows, wedding ceremonies and the like. Now I'm using mainly DSLR, so I'm looking to use the money to upgrade lenses and support equipment.
Kits include all original accessories and possibly a few SDHC cards and extended battery. Looking for $2,200 shipped each or a slightly better deal if you want both. PayPal or local pickup please.
I'll get more info and photos up if there is any interest. Just let me know!
