Normally I have always only shoot in HQ 1080/25P with a Shutter speed of 1/50th

I have been asked to shoot in SP 1080i / 50i with shutter speed 1/50th

But I have noticed there is no 1/50 speed for 50i, not even in the hand book

Question for Doug, in your book you say to use 1/50 shutter speed with 50i, is this a error or are I setting or seeing something wrong (most likely are).

There only seems to be 1/60th shutter speed for SP 1080i

Guess it will not matter but just thought I would ask.

Some may correct me on this, but I am pretty sure that switching the shutter off will get you the 1/50th that you need if you are set to 1080i.

I ended up leaving the shutter switched on with 1/60 shutter speed.

Have done the job and it worked out ok.

With being such a small difference between the two shutter speeds I didn't think it would be a problem and I would rather know what the shutter was doing than let it decide.

Hi Barry. If 1/60s works for you that's great, but just be aware that you might see some flickering if you shoot 1/60s under artificial light. Best to switch off the shutter when shooting 50i.

I don’t tend to shoot interlaced but if I did I think setting an angle of 180 degrees would be better than 1/60.

Probably not wise Paul, best just to leave the shutter off as we always did in Digibeta days - you shouldn't need it as there should be no blurring as it's 50 frames per second. A faster shutter risks giving you strobing - crank it up to 1/2000 to see an exagerated version of the effect.
