The camera started acting up out of no where, worked fine a few days ago, not so much now. Basically, all my HDV tapes won't playback at all. I can rewind and stop, but when I try to play, it just stops and won't play at all. However, my old DV tapes playback just find. Any suggestions?

You might want to start by cleaning the heads. It's always a good starting point.

Also check the camera's settings. If you are trying to play HDV when the settings specify DV, you might have problems. I cannot remember the specific setting(s), but go through the menu and make sure where there are options, select "HDV" or "Automatic". I think that there are three places where you can make this choice.

If all that fails, find the reset button and press it. You don't specify which camera you have so you may or may not have a reset button.

I appreciate it. It actually just starting working fine with no adjustments at all. Honestly like you said, I think the heads just have to be cleaned. Thanks for the advice!
