Hi Guys,

Went to the shop today to purchase some HDV tapes for a seminar i have this weekend and they were frickin $14.45 each at my local electronics store in Australia!!! WOWSERS!!!!!

Can i use the normal DV tapes to capture HDV or will this not work? I am sure i saw a video on this that said you could.

Yes.

I use the standard Sony Premium Mini DV tapes. They work fine and I've never had an issue. The picture quality will be identical and it wont make any difference.

The HDV tapes cost more because they claim to be more reliable although ironically I have had a HDV tape fail on me in the past while never any issues with the Sony Premium.
