anyone know if the sony hdr-fx1000 will give me 4:2:2 uncompressed output? I tried examining the image on a tv set connected live via hdmi and couldn't tell if it was compressed or not... err wait, I jsut remembered, my tv is 720.. so the scaling could have messed with the results.

Dear Ron,
Almost all cameras with HDMI output will output an uncompressed image via the HDMI, when shooting live.
On playback, from the internal media, it will still be an uncompressed image, but it will be from a compressed source, so some of the quality and detail is always lost.
A nanoFlash will record the best quality image that your camera can offer.
The actual internal workings of the camera, the signal path within the camera is sometimes very hard to determine. I think you will be fine.
