I was wondering what the best on-camera light is for the PD170 in you guys opinion.

I am buying a whole new DV kit for a full-time videography job I just got and need some help... Thanks!

Have you looked at this?

I've seen a couple ENG crews using these lights. No barndoors or filters, but I believe it uses the same battery type as the PD170, so you can use the same charger.

The Frezzi minifill with dimmer and softbox is generally considered the best, but is also the most expensive by far. The NRG VaraluxPro and the Bescor MPL-645K are also good choices. It probably makes little difference which camera you're using.

Two essential features IMO:
1. Dimmer switch
2. softbox
