Hi,

Here are more MXF samples of our new XDCAM format which allows for compatibility with Sony XDCAM equipment.
Included are all bit rates of Long-GOP and I-Frame compression that we do, including a new 18 Mbit 4:2:0 (full-raster) XDCAM EX proxy option.

This file structure is planned for our pending release in the next 2 to 3 weeks (approximately), if anyone would like to download and verify compatibility with your editing system, please feel free to and we appreciate feedback.

In particular Edius users: we had an earlier report that these files produced more sluggish performance in Edius?

Thanks
Tommy Schell

Dear Daniel,

Tommy will be looking into this.

I had Sony Clip Browser 2.5 and DL'd your 140 LG and 220 IF clips.

Sony doesn't even SEE the MXF files.

I uninstalled 2.5, replacing it with 2.6 and it's same.

This is on an XP system.

EDIUS plays them (on the same computer) fine.

Am I mistaken that the SCB should play our MXF files?

And what is the name of the mountain in the BG? I can see you've had some snow (heard about the storm this week).

Dear Daniel,

Our main office overlooks Pike's Peak.

Great view.

I gather the SCB might not "see" 140/220 by chance?

OK.

Let's see: the Sony Clip Viewer (2.6) sees nothing named MXF. And, in Premiere CS4, the Calibrated plugin doesn't EITHER.

Can't say I'm having a happy Friday experience.

Dear Daniel,

Please check this:

Is the file name extension "MXF", or is is "mxf".

If it is one, please rename it, changing it to the other, then run your tests.

Hi Daniel,

From my understanding the Sony XDCAM EX Clip Browser only imports XDCAM EX MP4 files not MXF Files - but the Clip Browser can export those MP4 files out to Sony XDCAM MXF Files.

Per our Calibrated{Q} components, only our Calibrated{Q} XD Decode codec (which decodes XDCAM HD/EX MOV files ) can be used within Premiere.

Cheers,
Greg

Our main office overlooks Pike's Peak.Hi Dan, are you sure it's not the other way around?

I thought for sure that Pike's Peak overlooks Convergent's main office. Heh.

Dear Chris,

Our offices in Colorado Springs do look up to Pikes Peak!

The view from our main office is rather nice, and the view from Pikes Peak can be fantastic on clear days.

Last December Mike Schell, his wife Pat, and I went to the peak on a very clear day, it was just great.

My office in the Augusta, Georgia area does not have any mountains, nor the sea in view.

Dan - The files download MXF (uppercase) but Greg pointed to my erroneous assumption.

Greg - My apologies. I could have sworn the SCB could play MFX (this is a new format on my system). Thanks for the clarification.

As for the Calibrated software, I installed it from your Web site but just now realize it was to view CD's QT samples, in Premiere CS4. Thanks for the reminder.

Still a no go for most of us poor PC users.

Chris - My EXACT comment when I read that. I even spotted the CD offices on Google Earth. Nice location.
