I have a project that the client has recorded in a NTSC camera and wants me to capture into FCP and export a Pal version for viewing.

Can this be done? I'm getting the signal from the NTSC camera in to FCP via the log and capture but it's strobing and flickering like mad, I asume this is because it's trying to read the NTSC fields.

How can I capture NTSC in Pal land and then convert this to Pal? Can this be done with FCP.

Cheers

Hey Simon

You need to capture the files into FCP using the NTSC capture settings that match the recorded source format, use the NTSC camera as the capture deck. You then edit the show entirely in NTSC and create an NTSC master from that edit.

When you are at the stage of having a finished NTSC master then you can use Apple Compressor or other suitable software or hardware option to convert the NTSC movie to PAL.
