Hello everyone. I've looked around everywhere for this information, but can't seem to find it. Does the Canon MA-100 provide balanced XLR input, or unbalanced? Thank you, Clint Grant
View Full Version : Canon MA-100 Balanced? Clint Grant June 22nd, 2005, 08:55 AM Hello everyone. I've looked around everywhere for this information, but can't seem to find it. Does the Canon MA-100 provide balanced XLR input, or unbalanced? Thank you, Clint Grant Greg Boston June 22nd, 2005, 10:19 AM The MA-100 provides balanced XLR input. That's one of the main reasons for adding it to your camera rig. It does NOT provide phantom power for mics though. -gb- Henry Cho June 22nd, 2005, 11:29 AM just to add, the ma100 converts the balanced signal to an unbalanced one before it actually hits tape via the rca jacks. Jay Massengill June 22nd, 2005, 05:04 PM Greg and Henry are correct, the MA-100 has electronically balanced inputs and unbalanced outputs to the camera. I also agree that it is very important to have balanced inputs, but there are several much better alternatives to the MA-100 for doing this with the XL-1. Let us know your situation and we can go into the details of those alternatives and which might best. |
