I just picked up the Sennheiser G3 ENG kit with the camera mountable receiver, bodypack transmitter, and plugin transmitter. I'm still getting used to the new menu and I love the sync feature but I am having trouble with the bodypack transmitter.

I scan with the receiver (transmitters turned off) for a clean channel, sync the bodypack transmitter, but no matter what channel I use I'm getting low level rf noise. When I try the same thing with the plugin transmitter on the same channel, I get a perfectly clean signal. I also tested the channel on my G2 system and it's clean so I'm pretty sure there's either a problem with the transmitter or I'm doing something wrong.

Has anyone else with the G3 bodypack transmitter experienced any problems with it? I'm wondering if I need to do something differently or send it in.

I think you probably need to send it in. I recently purchased a G3 unit (bodypack only) and haven't experienced any of the noise you're talking about. Super clean.

I guess I'll call them on Monday. I've never had the chance to experience Sennheiser customer service. I hope it's good.

Thanks

They are terrible in the UK. I bought an MKH416T off eBay that needed work doing to it. First of all they sent it straight back without doing anything (and wihtout telling me). Unfortunately they didn't use the correct postage, so I never received it. When I called up to find out how it was doing they just said it had been returned! Eventually it was found at a sorting office in Birmingham and it was sent back to them again. Several weeks later it was finally finished and it got posted back correctly. They did a good job on it technically, but I wouldn't bother using them for a repair if I could help it.
