I just built a I7 computer, loaded Vista 64bit. The computer works fine and sees my optical drive. No problems until I load Adobe CS2. After I load Adobe CS2 the drive still shows up, HOWEVER, after a boot, the computer no longer see my Plextor DVD burner.
The devise manager show the burner with no problems.
Any ideas?

Maybe you are better off with a supported OS (XP) or CS4 which does use Vista 64 and is optimized for it.

I have read that other systems have run CS2 software with the new Vista 64 and was hoping someone else may have run across the same problem and had a cheap fix. I plan to upgrade CS, but wanted to wait until CS5 if Spring is the launch date.

I haven't heard anything about CS5, but I think that next spring would be premature for its release. I don't recollect exactly, but I think CS3 was out for about two years before CS4 made the scene.

Problem fixed by Microsoft. Go to
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs (http://www.support.microsoft.com/kb/314060#letmefixit)
then click the icon that says "Fix it" then "Run Now" and follow it.
Worked perfectly. So easy.

I ran into the same problem after loading PPro/CS2 to a Vista 64 machine...lost recognition of the optical drive. Luckily, I haven't really needed it of late, but it'd be great to get it fixed. Let's hope it works as well for me.
Thnx.
