I was shooting my EX-1 on a tripod out doors. slot A was a S x S card and slot B was an
M x R with an 8 gig Sandisk card. after the card slots switched i got a message that the media would need to be (sorry i forget the exact term here) reformated?. there was a menu with a cancel and exacute. the cancel was high lighted when i tried to toogle to the excute, nothing happened. when i tried to power down nothing happened. first i thought it was the power switch which has always seemed frail to me. finally i pulled the battery and tried to power up the camera. the camera came on and would record but i could not activate any menues to reset.
i will look at the media later today and post my findings.
i called sony, they had me to try powering with the charger. still no joy. they said it sounded like a loose ribbon wire to the board and to send it in. so i Fedexed it to the service center in Honolulu yesterday Oct. 9. the camera is still under warrenty.
this camera gets transported in a custom cut foam pelican case and is treated very well. i had on one other occasion lost some media and that was midday sun, run and gun in Bangkok and it was very hot.
in other posts i had read about the frailty of the on/off switch, so i thought i would post this in case other owners had similar experiances. the forum is a great place to figure if you are having a one off fault or living through a recognized weakness.
