Hi there. Iīm not entirely new to DV world but I finally purchased XL1s (dream come true) and Iīm sucked off all money. BUT I will shoot action scene soon and I realize that I need some wide angle solution. Unfortunately 3x Wide Zoom lens is way out of my league (for now and for at least 6-8 months), still I need something. So I thought about Century Optics .6x wide adapter. It seems pretty cool, for reasonable price (eBay) and I wonīt hesitate if not for the filters. I didnīt see C.O. adapter for real (I live in center Europe, Prague, I donīt think thereīs any user of this) but Iīm pretty sure that with C.O. adapter mounted on XL1s I will lose chance to have filters mounted on at the same time. Is there any cheap way around this? I would want to have adapter AND filters on camera at the same time. Is it even a good idea? Your opinions are welcomed (and sorry for my horrible english ;)

The Century Precision Optics Value Series 0.6X adapter for the XL1s does have threads on the front, They appear to be 86mm threads, but I've not tried to mount a filter on it. It provides partial zoom-through with the standard autofocus lens.
Alternatives might be to use the Cokin Pro filter system.

Standard screw-on filters, one at the time. Iīm newbie to this (till today I emulate filters in post production) but my friend wants to use filters with our XL1s. We donīt have money for Wide angle zoom 3x lens but he doesnīt want to buy wide adapter īcause he thinks there is no way he can mount standard filters on it. However, he has cokin filters on his camera (Canon D300)... is there any chance to use them with C.O.?

Not unless they are 86mm (see post above). It is probably better to get a
full mattebox with rod system with something like 4x4 filters. However, that
may be a tad too expensive for you. That's the best I can come up with.

In a 4x4 system the filters are (larger) square plates of "glass" that slide
in front of a lens. Since these are larger (and thus more expensive) you
should not have troubles with wide adaptors/lenses I'd assume.

I see. Thanks a lot for an advice, Rob. I think Iīll just wait for W.A. 3x lens. Seems it will be better for my budget after all.
