I am looking for a video light for my HM100. I have AB with a power tap, but need something small, but decent. Any recommendations appreciated.

why not just use an AB Ultralight. Your choice of bulbs (I used a 35W with the AB softbox for indoor work) and a 75W with an outdoor filter for outdoor work like news. Easy to mount easy to use and sturdy as a horse. Lightweight also.

I can't use AB light, since I have no AB battery on my camera. This is not HM700 with AB pack, but small HM100- hence the need for a small light with it's own power supply. I was wondering about some new LED lights on the marker (like Bescor and such) and any recommendation. There is a light for Canon A1 camera, but I don't want a separate battery system.
I have to cary the thing for several hours above 10 000 ft.

Sorry I misread the original post. I read it to say you had the 700. Ooops. I should wear my glasses when I read-that's why I got 'em. Anyway,

LitePanel has the Micro and the MicroPro. The Pro is 55W dimmable while the Micro is25W dimmable. Both have filters; diffusion, 1/4 and 1/2 CTO and both work off of AA batteries.

I use the Micro, one of the first actually, use rechargable 2200Mah batteries and get about 4 hours out of a set.

I can't speak for the other lites out there as I don't use them.

The litepanel sounds very tempting, especially the run times with the AA batteries. I will give that a thought, since I can use it for my Hm100 and my D700 dslr. Boy is that thing expensive though... woof

Thanks Don, I will look into these. Really too bad JVC doesn't have it's own unit, powered by the same battery as HM100.

Swit make some pretty good LED units, the smaller 2020 model could be what you're looking for at a good price. I use the larger version on a news camera and it works great.

Robert check out the Switronix TL-50 on camera light. Small and long battery life.

I use the Swit 2020 with my HM100, good little light. I had a Litepanels Micro, but wasnt that impressed by it. The Comers seem to be worth a good look. I am going to buy the 900 model.
