Any idea which of the sponsors might sell the LogicKeyboard or any other model of FCP-specific keyboards for Mac?

I checked Zotz and Pro-Tape...but didn't see anything.

If you don't want to buy a whole new keyboard, you can buy FCP coded replacement keys. I don't know who makes them, but I've had several of my students tell me they have purchased them and work great. I think they said they ran about $90 and they liked them because the keyboard still matched their G4.

John, I got my FCP with a sticker sheet of keyboard tags that you could paste on the existing Mac keyboard keys. Surely that should be enough to work with (not to mention a lot cheaper!)? I assume, of course, that this isn't a new development and that this is a standard part of the kit :-)

Does anyone use the bella keyboards? I am still in the process of learning FCP and wondered if one of these keyboards with the shuttle on it and colored keys would help? I am a visual learner, so if I read the shortcuts in the manuals, I will never remember them.

Also, could someone recommend a better mouse than the stock mac? Must the mouse say "Mac Compatible" on the box, or can it just be a USB mouse?

Loren Miller designed keyguides for FCP. They're like $10-20. You can buy em off the http://www.lafcpup.org store.

The Contour Shuttle Pro (an alternate interface for FCP, not a keyboard or a mouse) has a jog dial on it... I don't know any keyboards that have anything like that.

I think most USB mice will work with your Mac. I don't know of any incompatibilities. You should definitely become a "switcher" and get a real mouse with right mouse button and a scroll wheel. Logitech and Dell mice aren't bad. I'd stay away from cheap mice because those tend to break easily.

That looks good, but I think they should have increased the footprint of the keyboard just a bit more and reshaped it a bit so that they can claim "shaped-as and actual size of Rhode Island".

There's no way that monstrosity would begin to fit on my desk what with everything else I have crammed on it.

Check out the FCP solutions from Logickeyboard (http://www.logickeyboard.com/)...they even have a combo package that includes the replacement keys and the Shuttle Pro for $159.

I am using it now and I must say it is the best board to date so far. I love the jog wheel.

OK, y'all have piqued my interest (darn ya). Sharon, does it have a similar "feel" to that of the basic Apple keyboard?
