Hi guys, I've been reading these boards and have had a question or two answered thus far and I really appreciate everyone's time. After some research, I've purchased an AT4073a at a good price from eBay. The camera I'm using is a Sony HDR-FX1. The deal is, I will be slowly buying equipment with each paycheck, and the best plan of action, I think, is to buy the components that get me operating with sound the soonest.

As I said, I now have an AT4073a, so the next thing I will purchase is a Beachtek DXA-6 (yes?) to interface with my camera and what I'd like some advice on is a decent shock-mount. Considerations are the the threading on the mic-mount and possibly the placement of the LCD monitor on the camera and clearing that; I'm not sure.

Perhaps when the next paycheck(s) come in I can worry about things like a soft windscreen, boom pole w/mount, handgrip, and possibly an AT4053.

The Lightwave shockmount is a good on-camera mount. On the lower end of costs, there are some of the older EV shockmounts if you can find them. I see them on Ebay from time to time.
If you plan on flipping the monitor open (I assume you do) you need something to either shift the mount forward or have it be unreasonably high on the camera.
Do you plan on using it on the camera most of the time?

Yes, I will probably have the shotgun on-camera for a good amount of shooting, and definitely until I'm able to acquire a proper boom pole and some cabling. In fact I may leave it on camera and just boom an AT4053 I'll purchase at a later date. What manufacturer would make such an item to shift the mic forward/above the monitor? Thanks!

Reading through some of today's business I found mention of a Kalt "L" Flash Bracket available through B & H which looks like a solution to clearing the LCD monitor as well as avoiding internal camera noise. Looks like it's worth a try.
