Stephen Barries June 6th, 2005, 11:06 PM Has anyone heard an update on the actual shipping date?
Some dealers are still saying beginning of July and I noticed B&H is saying August.
Thanks,
Stephen
Chris Hurd June 7th, 2005, 07:26 AM My own "feeling" is that it'll probably be late July. Hopefully they'll tell us more at DV Expo East.
Stephen Barries July 1st, 2005, 11:39 AM A JVC dealer just told me he spoke with JVC and they are now saying they will be shipping end of August, has anyone heard dfferently?
I need mine for a shoot in mid August and am becoming concerned.
Dave Ferdinand July 1st, 2005, 11:52 AM It's normal, if not the most common, to have the release date delayed.
I'd agree that end of August sounds the more likely.
The HVX is already rescheduled for late November/December.
Stephen Barries July 1st, 2005, 01:26 PM Sad news - just confirmed from an exec at JVC - shipping end of August, arriving in US beginning of September.
Uggh
Thomas Smet July 1st, 2005, 04:44 PM Thats only a few months before the HVX. At that point a lot of people might end up holding off to wait and see. It will be even closer if Panasonic decides to come out in the earllier half of Q4.
Alex Leith July 2nd, 2005, 11:37 AM We're being told "second half of July" by JVC here in the UK
Alex
Sean Livingstone July 2nd, 2005, 06:56 PM Over here is in Australia I'm being told late July to.. around the 20th.

SALES AND SUPPORT AND HANDS-ON DEMONSTRATIONS
Those of you who are not already in contact with one of our specialist JVC Professional dealers and who are wanting to purchase or have a demonstration then please contact our sales office manager, Brett Steventon, who will be pleased to recommend the most appropriate dealer(s). 020 8896 6000 or sales@jvcpro.co.uk
NOW AVAILABLE - new 18 page ProHD brochure incorporating GY-HD100/101 and BR-HD50
Whilst printed hard copy versions have not yet arrived in Europe, we will be pleased to let you have a pdf version immediately. Please either email marketing@jvcpro.co.uk to go to our main website www.jvcproeurope.com (As a 3MB pdf we did not automatically attach it for fear of clogging up any non-broadband email addresses).
ACCESSORIES LIST - coming soon
We will very shortly make available on the website and by future special email announcement to you as a registered ProHD person, a list of all accessories available or coming available not only from JVC but also from 3rd party manufacturers. We can tell you now about some key accessories that we are frequently asked about.
Battery Bracket
For existing IDX, PAG and Anton Bauer users we can reassure you that solutions are in hand. The bracket needs to incorporate a special 7.2V regulator for the GY-HD100 system, so it is more than just adding a battery plate. These solutions will also include an optional bracket on which to mount the JVC hard disk drive DR-HD100-40 (40 gb).
Wide Angle 3.5mm Lens
Fujinon prepared specially a second lens besides the 16x5.5 of the standard camcorder package. This lens is the Th13x3.5BRMU. To give you an idea of performance this is roughly equivalent to an 8mm lens on a 2/3" CCD. We will soon be announcing the price of the wide angle camcorder package.
In the meantime if you have any urgent and specific questions, please feel free to contact us on marketing@jvcpro.co.uk

E-mail I recieved from JVC 2005-06-28!
Stephen Sawchuk July 2nd, 2005, 09:25 PM AVAILABILITY
First shipments from the factory are expected to arrive in Europe in the second half of July.
I like hearing that!
Joe Carney July 4th, 2005, 08:34 PM Why is the US market getting theirs later?
Dave Ferdinand July 5th, 2005, 04:02 PM I doubt they will...
Barry Green July 5th, 2005, 05:13 PM Just heard back from my vendor. They've been told "September" as well.
Bill Pryor July 5th, 2005, 06:02 PM We normally get stuff later in the U.S. At least, that's the way it used to be. I remember when Betacam SP was first introduced, I was in France on a 3 week shoot, and at all the post houses I visited (looking for one that had some NTSC gear) they had Betacam cameras and decks in continuous use. We didn't even have the first Betacam suite in KC yet, and we normally are right up there in jumping on the new stuff bandwagon. Before that, when
3/4SP was a novelty here, it was in common use in Europe. Also, I saw a much bigger JVC presence there than here, but that was some time ago.
But if you feel deprived by being behind Europe in cameras, you ought to see the cars. Ford, for one, I noticed a lot. Ford sells really cool, good looking, hot cars there; and here the same ones are frumpyized and detuned and not nearly as cool.
K. Tessman July 6th, 2005, 07:46 AM JVC has updated the site to say August:
http://tinyurl.com/ccgfh
Stephen Sawchuk July 8th, 2005, 06:41 PM That site was all I was holding on to :\
Frederic Segard July 9th, 2005, 11:51 AM My JVC vendor told me he'd be receiving his first shipment by the end of July. He seemed quite sure of this, as he had just spoken to the JVC rep this week. I guess we'll know soon enough.
Stephen Barries July 9th, 2005, 12:20 PM Fred,
Which vendor are you dealing with?
Stephen
Frederic Segard July 9th, 2005, 02:51 PM Norbec Communications in Montreal, QC
Stephen Barries July 31st, 2005, 12:06 AM They are in stock at www.prodigitalaustralia.com and apparently can be shipped right away.
Has anyone heard about US arrival?
Stephen
Martin Costa July 31st, 2005, 03:24 AM I was told by a JVC marketing manager that stocks would be severely limited at first (Europe). And that there would be less than a couple of hundred at launch. :-(
Mikael Widerberg July 31st, 2005, 09:04 AM Singapor has a limited Set in stock :)

Chris Hurd July 31st, 2005, 12:25 PM That's great if you live in Singapore, but I would strongly urge our North American readers to *wait* until this camera is available for our DV Info Net site sponsors before making the plunge. It's a mistake to buy a camcorder from overseas and pay for that level of shipping and insurance.
Bill Pryor July 31st, 2005, 12:50 PM Yes, and it's better to let somebody else be the first kid on the block with the new toy. Remember the first edition sync issue with the DVX100, the audio issue with the early PD150, and some electromechanical difficulties with the first run of JVC's 500. Let somebody else buy the first run and complain loudly about whatever is wrong, and then when the .1 or -A model is out, you'll be happy you waited.
Of course, JVC seems to be breaking new ground with this camera, and they could come up with a perfect first edition this round. Still, I'd wait a few months. And, as Chris said, buy from a reputable dealer in the country where you are.
By the way, everything I read about this camera makes it a very good possibility for a lot of people. The fact that it uses real lenses, is shoulder mount, and has the normal switches pretty much where they belong makes it an attractive package for me. It appears that it will be a fully professional camera, only smaller.
Mikael Widerberg July 31st, 2005, 01:14 PM Bill and Chris are right of course, and very wise...but, its boring to wait, and somebody has to be the first "kid on the block". And for me living in Sweden its 10 000 kr (1300 USD) less money to by from a dealer in New Zeland all charges inkluded (Transport, insurence, import duty, VAT).
Chris Hurd July 31st, 2005, 02:01 PM Mikael, more power to you, and *please* be sure to tell us all about it when you have played with it a little; I'm sure that there are many people here, myself included, who will be very interested in your reports. Thanks in advance,
Ian E. Pearson July 31st, 2005, 05:17 PM But don't just tell us about it. Please post some kind footage. We already know in print what this thing is supposed to be capable of. I am dying to see any kind of footage from this baby. I don't care if someone posts footage of a kid picking his nose. I just would love to see anything.
Thanks

Thanks for posting, Steve. Looks like Edius does indeed handle HDV ;-).
We eagerly look forward to anything else you care to post.

Mikael Widerberg August 1st, 2005, 10:56 AM Some real frames would be very nice.
But offcource, now that you are in love there is no time for a silly DVI-Community ;)
Mikael Widerberg August 1st, 2005, 05:04 PM OK, from the salesteam at Globalmediapro they now say; "JVC promised delivery in the end of August. Now they promise this week".
But if thats for there office in New Zealand or in the UK, I dont now.
Not much help for you though, living on the other side of the Atlantic.
