I plan to purchase Apple Cinema Display 23inch and Blackmagic Decklink HD(for full 1920x1200 HD resolution viewing) -- I'm a PC user with Vegas 6.0 as my editing tool. Do I really need Blackmagic Decklink to view, edit and rendering HDV footage from FX1 camera? I've read Decklink doing a good job at processing uncompressed HD-SDI, but never heard anyone using Decklink to process HDV. Thanks in advance.

The short answer is - No.

If the Decklink was needed to just view, edit and render from the FX-1/Z1, there'd be a lot of upset folks posting here!!

Perhaps you need to outline what you want to do with your HDV material. It's not easy to know whether the Decklink may be worthwhile for you just on what you've asked..

However; I'm running Vegas 5 with ConnectHD for m2t capture and CFHD conversion on a P-IV 3.2Ghz HT machine with SATA RAID-0 and a 17" WS LCD monitor running at 1280x720 32 bit for editing my FX-1e and JVC HD10u HDV clips, so I can vouch for the ability to capture, view, edit and render without the Decklink card.

The Apple Cinema Display is a different kettle of fish! Any large WS monitor with resolution high enough to account for any HDV pixel count is worth it if you can afford it.
