Not bad at all.

Supposedy LG will be releasing an 80" soon.
Undoubtedly all of this upmarket refining of manufacturing techniques will work its way down the production lines.

Am I the only one who thinks the DLP's have better pictures than the LCDs?

not at all. i think it has to do with the ability to blur the image just enough to _not_ see the individual pixel borders, thus giving a smoother appearance.

also, lcd's have an infamously narrow gamut, and color representation is severely lacking.

I'm kind of surprised plasma isnt dominating this arena. Isnt it better quality? Also, DLP only comes in a projector if I'm not mistaken, it uses a color wheel and mirrors. I can hardly beleive that would give you anywhere near the contrast ratio or black level of a flat panel monitor.

DLP does give you that contrast level and quality. It's really incredible if you see one set up in a good enviroment.

Also, Plasma screens aren't even close in my book, their quality isn't even to the point where I'll watch them. The quality lags so far behind a good and well calibrated CRT TV that I just couldn't stand it. DLP is by far the best option by my eyes, but LCD is a close second.

Sony and Toshiba quit making plasma, Panasonic and Hitachi increased plasma production. Sharp only makes LCD, is world's largest FPD producer.
