I have the above model Raynox lens which has a 62mm thread. Has anyone tried to step this up to the FX1/Z1? If so, what are the results? I imagine some cropping will occur but is it still workable at all? I saw that Raynox just released some new lenses but I already have the investment in this lens.

It works great with my JVC GR-HD1 but I am trying to figure out if I should keep it if I purchase the Sony or sell it with my JVC. Any insight is appreciated.

Well I tried this on an an FX1 and it does attach well with a step down ring but the results are not so good. The corners are very rounded when zoomed all the way out - maybe good as a music video effect ("thinking of some old Beastie Boys vids"). You zoom past the edges and the net result is no better than not having the lens on at all.

Well, if it is a fish eye wide angle adapter as he was saying, then the corners are supposed to be very rounded. That's how fish eye wide angle lenses look.

Raynox has new 180 deg. fisheye made specifically for FX1. It's about 1,000 USD. Should be very sharp. I wonder how it compare to Century Optics that costs about 3,000 USD.

I should clarify that I meant I could see the black round edges of the lens opening itself. Yes, the new Raynox lens would be the way to go but the cost is double the FE180.

Ok. In that case you are right. When you see vignetting then it is no good.
