I bought the Sony L-series NP-F970 "12 hour" battery with my Z-1. Charged it to full (720 minutes), shot a couple hours, put the battery back into the charging unit provided with the Z-1, and left it there. The next time I looked at the battery, it registred "full" at around 320 minutes and wouldn't charge beyond that. Did I do something wrong in my charging proceedure? This battery isn't supposed to have any memory issues, but it appears that this one did. I just received a replacement from B&H and was wondering what the proper charging proceedure was...should one charge to "full" then remove the battery from the charger?...any suggestions?
Thanks,

Most new batteries need to be fully charged, then discharged, then fully charged again--ie., cycle them a couple of times by charging and discharging all the way, and then they should give you a good run. It could be something wrong with the charger, so if it does the same thing again, I'd check that out. Maybe the charger turns off before it's fully charged.

Thanks! I didn't do that last time, so I'll cycle it a few times and cross my fingers!
Cheers!

I bought an eBay battery - a 970 replacement atter seeing it recommended here. It works PERFECTLY and cost less than $40. I paid $100 when I first got my ZI for a Sony battery. I now use the two interchangeably.
