Hey... guys... I have final cut pro 5, with compressor 2, and DVD studio pro 4. I have not been able to make a DVD that will play in a regular dvd player. What i really just want to do is to be able to burn an good quality standard dvd that can fit on the regular 4.7gig dvd for everyone to play on their dvd player. Now... i have done soo many dvds, some play only on macs and not on a regular dvd player. i wanna be able to burn a dvd that will have a good quality for anybody to play whether they have a windows pc, mac, or dvd player.

I have watched a couple of tutorials but still end up making bad dvds. Hopefully i am able to get professional help here.

I really want someone to walk me through the process from final cut(what and how exactly can i export it to have a good quality), Then what exactly to choose when i go into compressor 2 and how to put it in DVD studio pro 4 (and also what setting to put it in) and finally how to burn the disc successfully.

Export it from FCP using compressor. You want to choose the setting in Compressor that matches your video's length, but does not go over. So if your video is 89 minutes long, pick the 90 minute option. If it is 91 minutes long, you have to pick the 120 minutes option. Always use best quality. Use the Dolby audio option, not the AIFF option. Compress it, and wait for it to be done. In DVDSP make sure the DVD is set to SD DVD in the disc inspector's General tab. Then simply drag the newly compressed files into the Assets window. From there drag the audio and video file into the timeline. Create a menu (from a template or from your own artwork), a link to the track, and set the track's end jump back to the main menu. When that is done, click the Build/Format button. Name your DVD, choose a location for the files to be saved, and make sure the output device is correct. Click Build & Burn and it should work.

Edward's way of doing it will work but it might be easier if you export a self contained quicktime movie form your FCP timeline and then import it into compressor. Seems to work better then using export from FCP and also leaves you able to still work in FCP.

Export from FCP as a self contained movie, then drop it into iDVD - it's pretty simple from there...
