I know there is a keyboard shortcut to render a clip to a new track, but is there any kind of short cut to render a clip as an avi (without creating a clip on a new track)? I'm using v6 and v9. Thanks.

This for VP9:-
1] SCRIPTING
You DO have a script for this:

Tools > Scripting > Batch Render

2] TOOLBAR ICON
Now you can ALSO put this up on the Toolbar as a Click-able a Script.

3] KEYBOARD
You can ALSO assign a Keystroke to the: Script.Batch Render :command and set this up. That will give you a keystroke for Batch Render.

Fancy any of those? But I have to ask, why you want a KBS for this?

Thanks Grazie. I have a B roll tape that I want to grab a bunch of short clips to be used in a later project. I figured the easiest way to save the needed clips would be to render them as an avi and place them in a folder for later use. Maybe doing it from the timeline is not the best way...

Now I know why you were asking about a KBS for rendering, I now don't understand why you want to create these AVIs?

Why don't you capture the B-roll tape and let it be? I imagine that's what all of us do? It's what I do. Why render out to AVI? You may not WANT all the B-roll as AVIs, when you are developing your project?

I had some time on my hands and knew we were going to use certain clips later on, so it made sense to render them out, label and organize them so they would be easy to locate when needed.

Ah! Then Ultimate SPro4. It has great flexibility using a veritable Buffet of rendering options! You can set up your own rendering options and save these as a preset to be used in the future.

or just buy Cineforms NeoScene, capture your tape, letting NeoScene convert all, then delete the clips you don't want and keep the others.
