Hello!

I am from Germany, so I don't have to suffer from the ongoing Doller/Euro rise and fall in respect to buying a Sachtler tripod... to be honest, in Germany they are not cheap at all as well :) .

The thing is: I will either be buying a new Manfrotto 503 head to legs I already bought on Ebay, or I will get me a used Sachtler. I would have the choice of two people wanting to sell me theirs.

None of the two is out of their DV series. In fact the seller of one only told me the Type: "Video 10", which I cannot find on any Sachtler site and only in few rental places online.

The other one is depicted below and has a pneumatic middle part .

Any Opinions?

And now for another question: Are all Sachtler tripods true fluid heads?

Thank you for your attention!

Matthias

Now, I just cannot believe, that nobody here owns a Sachtler Tripod :) . By now I found out about the Pneumatic Hub probably being a HotPod... does anybody have experiences on those? I read, that they are kind of heavy but very fast to set up, any other hands-on experiences?

Thanks a lot!

Matthias

Hello Matthias,

I don't own a Sacthler but I've seen those Hot-Pods used by news camera crews in the Los Angeles area. I'm sure they set up fast and they probably like them very much.

Yes, Sachtler heads have fluid damping.
