Ok, I need to buy an UHF lavalier system. I am really bored to rent one each time a job requier one.

I often read good comments about the senheizer kit here, but this one seems to be good, and it is 200$ cheaper. It can also be purshased with diffenrents lavalier mics.

The only donwside I can find is the fixed frenquency. Is it a big deal?

Please give me your comments, or other recommendations. The budget is tight, but I want something good.

You might consider the Audio-Technica ATWU101831 diversity system instead. It's $500 but it would be money well-spent.

It's been getting some very positive reviews in the professional audio publications.

I'm seriously looking at getting a pair of these to eventually replace my Lectrosonic VHF wireless mics.

Another advantage: They use a 5-pin F-connector that's common to other high-end microphones, such as the Countryman E-series. It'll provide a very good upgrade path in the future.

I have the samson airline wireless system, I've been happy with it. I need to get a 2nd and will either get another airline or the series one. I do like the compactness. Like you said it's only got one channel. I shoot out in the boonies and I've never had interference problems. Might be different in a city.

I have been using the Series 1 for several years for occasional wedding event production and it cost me somewhat more than that 2nd hand years ago but my kit included: Sony ECM-77B, pouch etc. - never had a problem, extremely reliable and no interference. Recommended and my wireless for my current PD-170P.

For what use is this?

Mostly interview style for corporative work. But I can occasionnally do a wedding, or other kind of jobs too.

You think that some wireless system are more suited for one kind of shooting than others?

I'd be concerned about using a single-channel system
as the only audio acquisition system for critical
applications such as weddings. Now, if you had
some type of backup in case there were problems
with the Samson, then I'd say you'd be okay.
I use two different wireless. A Sennheiser multi-channel,
and about 5% of the time when I show up to the
location, I have to change to a different channel
because the one I had planned on using was already
in use. Also have the Samson Airline single-channel
system and so far have not had another system on
that channel, but just ran into a situation where
I would guess there must have been a channel perhaps
near to it so that there were a lot of dropouts
when the priest was talking on his wireless.
