I have an XL2 and am using a XLR Y cable to run a ME67 into both channels of audio so I can set different record levels for each channel to give me a buffer. The XL2 has the option to turn on Phantom power to either of the XLR connectors in the back so if I am connected to both XLR connectors in the back of the camera using a Y cable and using only one mic do I need to turn on the phantom power on just one of the channels in the back of the camera and also, what would happen if both the XLR inputs in the back of the camera were set to phantom power on? Would having both connectors phantom power turned on blow the mic? The K6 module that I have does have the option of battery power but I am going to be adding a mixer and some mics that need phantom power and I will probably be using this set up more in the future.

Or if I am totally missing the boat on this how else should I set up a single mic to record different levels? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Turning on phantom power to one of the connectors should suffice but turning both on shouldn't cause a problem either.
