Has anyone been able to push the xl1 to obtain anything like a time lapse affect, curious.

I have an Xl-1 and I use this software,Stop Motion Studio (www.loudinc.com/animation/stopmotionstudio/)

It is for the Mac and I hook up my camera via firewire to my iBook and run the software, I record directly to the laptop and no tape is used.

I should have been more specific about my time lapse application. I am a wildlife and nature videographer and want to use the xl1 in this venue if at all possible. Any suggestions? Thanks to Ric Sanchez for his answer.
