Hello all!

Just had an inquiry. Ordered the HD100 online, and the interesting thing is, the dealer said I would be getting it next week, which was a shock to me, because I heard the camera isn't shipping until June. Can someone confirm that? Should I not get my hopes up?

Los.

Who'd you order it from?

The camera does not exist yet. No production models will be available until July.

Sounds like a scam to me. Be careful. Look up the dealer on www.resellerratings.com, and make sure, if you pay at all, you pay with credit card or some other insured method that guarantees you the product or your money back.

Actually it is shipping and you can buy one now for only $353! http://www.adorama.com/HD100.html

I believe the shipping date will be most likely July, not June.

Yes, at NAB they revised the shipping date and said that it would be July, not the previously-announced June.

This is just a balance stabilizacion system, not the camera...Well, at least that is where my computer takes me when I hit the hiperlink.

Just to add to the previous comment re: delivery time, my supplier in Orlando, FL confirmed me today that it will be July, not June as originally anounced.

Um, that was just a little attempt at humor on my part...

But seriously, I'm really curious as to what Carlos ordered, what it cost, and whom he ordered it from. As others have pointed out, it sounds suspicious.

Actually, this seller was listed on this forum, and I've seen their ads in DV and Videomaker magazine. Legit enough or should i still watch out? The ad said pre-order, but the sales-rep I spoke to said we'd have it in about a week. anyways, if it does show up, I'll keep you guys posted on its performance.

We shall see :)

Can you provide the website (or a hyperlink to it)? I have seen this one http://www.armatosvideo.com/pdetails.asp?itemID=10532, but it does not say anything about shippint time. Is this the same one you pre-ordered from? If so, a double check with another sales rep regarding the shipping date would be nice to have...

No one can tell you whether or not this dealer is 'legit' if you don't tell us who it is.

What I can tell you is, any dealer who says you will receive a JVC HD100 in the next week is obvioulsy not telling the truth. As others have mentioned, JVC has said the camera won't ship until July.

So, what company did you order from?

I've already been in contact with the JVC sales manager and he did confirm that it will be shipping in July. Also he recommended Full Compass as the place to order it from at least in the midwest. I contacted Full Compass and the sales rep hadn't even heard of the camera (I think that full compass is more geared towards audio). The sales rep was extremely nice and said that as of right now, he can't give me any pricing except for the list which is $6295, but of course that's not going to be the sale price.

Personally, I'm going to sell my FX1 and pick this puppy up. I jumped into my purchase of the FX1 without doing my research. The HD100 looks like exactly what I need.

You're in trouble lol And why are you not revealing the vendor's name?

You cannot go wrong with the Big Three:

B & H
EVS
ZGC

Personally, I do not patronize any other store for major purchases.

My thoughts exactly. With such large purchases it is extremely unwise to go with someone else. B&H is like a well oiled machine that wont let you down, and EVS is highly personal (in a good way) when dealing with you (almost feels like a mom and pop store to me...once again, in a good way.) I never ordered from ZGC before, but I have only heard good things about them.

Never heard of EVS or ZGC before. I order from B&H quite often though. They are good, except for their phone customer service I heard is quite rough.

I've experienced very reliable service from B&H for several years. Many of my associates also use EVS. Beware of small online shippers that promise the world...What you'll get is a world of problems.

Adam Rench

Oh yeah. I only buy from a few select vendors. B&H is my main one for my basic photo needs. Calumet Photo is my one for lighting gear (amazing service). Newegg.com is my computer vendor. And Midwest Media Group is my vendor for the big stuff.

I bought something online a long time ago and the company went out of business. It was then that I learned not to buy the cheapest thing out there.

This past year I bought a shotgun mic from Full Compass. Their customer service was excellent and the product arrived on time. They don't necessarily specialize in video equipment, but they are reputable and professional.

Please everyone... before this thread heads off in the wrong direction... I know we all have opinions on the best places to buy stuff. But just remember that the DVinfo sponsors make this site possible, and they have been hand picked because of the prices and service. Whenever possible please show your appreciation by giving them your business; you won't be disappointed. You'll find the full list here: http://www.dvinfo.net/sponsors/index.php

hey, that's great! I didn't even know about that part of the dvinfo.net site. I'll surely check them out.

Amen. Make sure you read the thread which talks about all the sneaky, nefarious ways some of these dealers use to rip you off when selling you "grey market" equipment and such

Just got an e-mail from the dealer apologizing for the mistake of his sales person, told me the camera wouldn't show up until July, just as we had heard. He did say we were pretty much the first one to purchase it from him though. So now we can breathe again haha.

By the way we purchased it from Armatos.

Take care all, I'm gonna go PARTY for my birthday!!! :)

By the way, thanks for calling me new boot, its much appreciated, sure I'm new around here, but I think your wording is uncalled for, "Regular Crew."

Thanks for the update, Carlos!

Glad to hear that the dealer called you back, sounds like it's going to work out for you.

We use the terms "new boot" and "regular crew," etc. only as a reflection of the number of posts a person has made to our message board. It certainly isn't meant to reflect your real-world experience and skills. Hope this helps,

Dave Ferdinand

Chris is right, it's nothing to do with your personal skills or anything...

No need to get all sensitive on us - but you can call me 'Regular Crew' any time you want, I'm quite happy with that. :)

As to your 'shopping adventure' with Armatos... Well, we'll have to take your word for it.

EVS is highly personal (in a good way) when dealing with you (almost feels like a mom and pop store to me...once again, in a good way.)
Thank you Glenn, and everyone else who supports EVS and the other DvInfo sponsors. We strive to be the sunny Cali shop with pleasant phone service and quality gear to boot.

I encourage anyone with questions about our services to please email me directly, and I will be happy to either assist you personally or get you to one of my specialists.

For instance, Tommy, our audio guru, is a recording artist with 10 years of audio installation experience. Ramzi is a talented director with a full feature soon due to enter post production. Randy is a DP who just flew out to film a national spot for Wells Fargo, and has a music video on the Rolling Stone site. And I have 13 years as a DP and Editor, as well as 380 commercials, 4 features, and 4 music videos. I also teach private classes in lighting and production. So betwen all of us we can usually get a question answered! None of us have ever sold used cars, either... : )

For sure guys, thanks for watchin out. I'm nothing but excited and anxious to take the camera out for a test drive. My company says as soon as we give it the approval, they're ordering more. hehehe, company purchases are sweet :) Ahhh, such a good time for HDV. It's only going to get better from here.
