I installed cs4 on Windows Vista 64 computer. I noticed in the program list Photoshop has (64 bit) next to it. Does this mean all the other applications in the suite are 32 bit? Is there a way to tell if an application is 64 bit?

Only PS is 64-bit. Everything else, Adobe claimed it is 64-bit optimized. I think it's a marketing term so you will pay for CS5 soon.

64bit-optimized doesn't really mean anything, it's marketing-speak. What they mean is that some apps (Premiere included) can be broken to multiple 2 GB chunks, so they can access and utilize more than 4 gigs of memory together.

It doesn't impact me that much because my laptop is currently maxed out at 4 gb and its primary use is Onlocation. I'm satisfied that its compatible with Windows 64. I can imagine Premiere users who use a lot of ram would be ticked off. Yes, another reason to sell you on CS5. ;-)

What it means is that the CS4 suite runs much better on a 64-bit system with 12GB of memory than on a 64-bit system with 4GB. At least that has been my experience
