There's a commercial with those Keebler elves that I'm curious about. It's a faux documentary in which an interviewer wants to know about the secret to the elve's cookies or something. The boom op has this really weird looking mic. It's huge. Nearly a third wide as it is long. Anybody know what that thing is? The commercial itself isn't that interesting. I just want to know about the mic.

Marco, without seeing it, everybody's just guessing. Are you sure it wasn't something they made up for the spot?

Could be. Seems like it would be a lot easier just to use a real mic. It's a national spot, so figured other people would have seen it too.

I thought this topic was a typo, and you were asking about Elvis ;)

I'm positive I've seen the spot, but can't remember what the mic looked like. If you can find a still and post it, one of the genuises here will recognize it.

Well do you think it may be a blimp on the mic? Thats the only thing that i can think of.

It didn't look like any blimp I've ever seen. The back half appeared to be a shiny metal and the front of it looked like a rounded wire mesh pop filter, like on a studio mic.
